Character cottage, renovated end to end

A character timber cottage in Mount Lofty, brought back to its original grandeur and then some. The front was restored — fretwork, verandah and picket fence — and the inside was rebuilt: a new kitchen opening to dining and living, a new bathroom, laundry and bedrooms, VJ-lined walls throughout, and a covered patio out to the lawn.

What the job involved

• Full internal strip-out and rebuild
• New kitchen with stone benchtops and timber floors
• Bathroom with freestanding bath and arched mirror
• Laundry with navy joinery and brass tapware
• VJ wall lining, new ceilings, doors and hardware throughout
• Restored verandah, fretwork and picket fence; covered rear patio
